Simmons College Career Center Partnership

April 7, 2023 Community banking

Stock Yards Bank & Trust is excited to announce a $50,000 partnership with Louisville’s only Historically Black College and University (HBCU), Simmons College. This new partnership will expand Simmons’ new career center to serve more of the College’s students and implement software and facility upgrades.

“Thanks to this generous contribution from Stock Yards Bank & Trust, we will now be able to rapidly expand our career center,” Kevin Cosby, President of Simmons College of Kentucky said. “This investment ensures that the newly named Stock Yards Bank & Trust Student Success Center can offer robust on-campus programming to help more than 500 students reach their career goals.”

Stock Yards Bank & Trust Chairman and CEO Ja Hillebrand said that as a community bank, making the decision to partner with Simmons on expanding its career center was an easy one.

“Stock Yards Bank & Trust believes that investing in our communities is vital,” Hillebrand said. “Simmons College of Kentucky is delivering a top-notch educational experience and developing our next generation of leaders. We’re so pleased to support the career center at Simmons as they help students connect with employers and explore professional opportunities.”

The funding will also support the new Simmons College Leadership Institute Program, formerly known as SLI.  The new leadership initiative is designed to teach students the interpersonal skills and knowledge needed to engage in various leadership roles on campus, in the community, and in their futures.

“Each of the four phases allows the student to view leadership from different perspectives and provides opportunities to examine and enhance their skills,” said Robin Lester, M.Ed., recently appointed Executive Director for Student Success and Career Development.
