We’d like to give a warm welcome to our newest Investment Advisor Manager, Chris Billings. We sat down with Chris to learn a little bit more about him after he joined the team.
Q: Share a little about your day-to-day work and how you approach client relationships.
A: Managing investments for a family is a very rewarding experience, but can also be very humbling. It’s important to keep a cool head and focus on what you can control. Applying an objective, consistent and disciplined approach to my clients’ investments has allowed us to weather many investment cycles through the years.
My inspiration comes from being able to help create lasting legacies for the families I’ve been fortunate enough to work with. Being able to combine the expertise of all the members of the Wealth team has allowed us to craft solutions tailored to our clients that others may have missed. Building a strong foundation is the key to success.
Q: What drives you to choose this position/company and keep coming to work?
A: Having spent over 30 years managing investments, the greatest joy is being able to build relationships with your clients that come from the trust and confidence they have in who you are and the realization that your attention is on them so that they no longer need to direct their time and energy toward their investments and can spend more time focusing on themselves and their family.
Coming to Stock Yards was like a breath of fresh air. The collaboration and teamwork have been tremendous and each day brings a reminder of what a great Wealth team should look like.
Q: How do you like to stay current with your industry, and trends or current events?
A: Research, research, research. I’m an avid reader of any and all investment research pieces and like to incorporate many diverse opinions. I’m constantly looking for those breadcrumbs to help get a better assessment of the markets whether through a publication I subscribe to or my Twitter feed. The best part about this industry is that you never stop learning and growing.
Q: If you could give one piece of advice to our audience, what would it be?
A: Always respect what the markets are telling you.

Chris relocated to Kentucky from Fort Myers, Florida, where he met his wife, Amy. They currently reside in Oldham County with their three sons, two dogs, one cat, and a parrot named Yoda. Whenever time allows, the family, including the dogs and parrot, hop into their motorhome and travel across the country to enjoy any and all outdoor activities.
